Life comes from space because life
comes from life. This is the central proposition of this site, and
all resources are presented in support of this proposition. This
site is concerned with how life got started on Earth-- seeded from
outer space, the organizers of this site argue convincingly. After
you look through their articles and examine their ideas, whether you
believe the organizers of this site is not so important as that you
know life on Earth much better than before, you see the
possibilities and the odds of life having evolved a certain way.
This is the world vision presented on this site: to look creatively,
systematically, universally, at our life on Earth and how it could
have germinated and developed as it has. Kudos for the organizers of
this site in presenting very complex material in a provocative, very
readable, downright gripping, style. |

David is a philosopher at the University of Arizona,
where he is Professor of Philosophy and Associate Director of the
Center for Consciousness Studies. He specializes in the philosophy
of mind, and in related areas of philosophy and cognitive
science. He is especially interested in consciousness, artificial
intelligence, computation, in philosophical issues about meaning and
possibility, and in the foundations of cognitive science and
physics. David's site is hosted on the University of Arizona web
servers. His world vision is his philosophical focus on the light of
human consciousness and on how this light can be shined and
perceived by feeling, thinking humans. His site offers both a great
introduction to beginners in this academic discipline and a resource
center for professional philosophers. The curiosity of his world vision is
admirable. |

Flash Kit started late
October in 1999. It was created as a resource site for Flash
developers. Flash is a powerful multimedia product from Macromedia.
The site was built to create a one stop raw materials center for Flash
creations. Its founders realized the value of such a site, after
having spent hours surfing for sounds, images and ideas. What its
founders did not realize then, or maybe even today, is that they
have created a world portal for multimedia developers to establish
contact with other likeminded persons and companies. International collaboration
is here on the Internet, and one place it takes place everyday is on this site.
There's a world of entertaining and provocative resources on this
site, but it's the potential for following up with a real human that
puts this developer site in a class by itself. This site's world
vision is providing a world-class, worldwide forum for multimedia
developers to gain resources and ideas, interact with each other, and return to
their work armed with a new custom tool kit needed to create that next
great multimedia project. |

Established in 1997, Japanorama
supplies Japan-related products and information to
Japanophiles throughout the world. Since their founding, the web
site has assisted many in learning the Japanese ways and in finding
products and services that met an individual's need when crossing
from the American to Japanese cultures. Superficially, we often cross the barriers between
cultures. Japanorama assists in crossing these same barriers in a
way that the barriers are greatly reduced in size and the two cultures
co-exist as one larger culture set. This is the world vision of
Japanorama... to bring cultures together into a larger, richer
community of transnationals, persons able to navigate the territory
between the Japanese and the American/English cultures. In this
"no man's land" there is a premium on information and
communication. |

The "Time Flies" exhibition
from the Nelson-Atkins museum in Kansas City, Missouri takes a
probing but entertaining look at the role that time plays in our
lives and in art. Featuring works of art in its own collection, the
online exhibit examines how the concept of time has differed in
various cultures and individuals and, as well, how time affects the
artists' creations and is truly relative. The feature "World
Times' takes a look at how time is perceived, while the feature
"Conservation Time" examines the life cycle of a work of
art. The ability to look at close ups of some art works gives a
virtual reality to the exhibit. The world vision of the exhibit is
to examine the significance of time in our lives and in the life of
art works. Time and space makeup our reality, and some would add
some intangible element such as essence. Einstein cited the
convergence of space and time, and their relativity. This exhibit's
focus on time and art, along with its excellent artistic
presentation, make this a must-see multimedia experience.

The Official Web Site of The Nobel
Foundation. In 1996, a decision was made to expand the Nobel
Website into Nobel e-Museum, a virtual museum on the Web.
Think of all the great content at their disposal! The Nobel
Foundation, established on June 29, 1900 is the central body of the
Nobel organization responsible for awarding the Nobel Prizes. It
manages the assets made available through the will of Alfred Nobel
for the awarding of the Nobel Prize in Physics, Chemistry,
Physiology or Medicine, Literature and Peace. The Nobel Prize is synonymous
with the finest drives and achievements of humans on planet Earth.
This site's content features the lives and
achievements of the Nobel Prize winners, the rich heritage of the
Nobel Prize and its generous benefactor, and numerous new educational
sections that may just spark a young mind to aspire to noteworthy
humanistic achievement. This site's world vision is of the world as
one community, one humanity, guided by the dedication and genius of
luminaries that should be recognized and honored by all people in
the world for their truly unique contributions to our lives and our
common posterity. |

Putumayo World Music
was established in 1993 to introduce people to the music of other
cultures. The label grew out of the Putumayo clothing company that
was founded in 1975. In the past seven years, the label has become
known primarily for its upbeat and melodic compilations of great
international music that are "guaranteed to make you feel
good!"
Putumayo's CD covers feature distinctive naïve art, whose colorful,
folkloric style represents one of Putumayo's goals: to connect the
traditional to the contemporary to create products that people love.
By combining appealing music and visuals while supporting its
releases with creative retail promotions and marketing, Putumayo
World Music has developed a reputation as one of the industry's most
innovative companies. The label has produced more than 60 CDs. Putumayo's
world vision is to see the inherent value in the world's diverse
ethnic music, to make such music available across the world, and to
foster its dissemination and acceptance around the world. |

Ray Troll's site shows
off his immense artistic talents and intellect. He's capable of
painting a post-modern Mona Lisa, albeit a finned or scaled one. Ray
combines his artistic skills with his curiosity of evolution and
natural science to create works of art based primarily on the fish
kingdom from whence we came. When he gets the wish to do a Grateful
Dead album cover out of his system, he will be fully capable of
making the transition from creative nature artist to brilliant
mature artist. I sense this juncture is coming soon. Ray's art
depicts the way nature was, is, and will be. He also captures the
curious perversion of that creature of both nature and society called
"man." Ray's world vision is a powerfully raw artistic
vision of man's heritage and future in the cosmos. He has a sense of
the epic in art. His paintings are reminiscent of the epic canvasses
of Hieronymus Bosch. Though he is in tune with his homeland of
Alaska and its grand nature, he is equally at home on the Amazon
River. He is a true naturalist, but a fish is not just a fish to
Ray. He is a naturalist who understands the nuances of symbolism,
allegory, and surrealism. If you have not
seen his work, you need to; if you have not purchased a piece of his
work, you better hurry! |

The WWW Virtual
Library
| Online web resource catalog. The
VL is the oldest catalog of the web, started by Tim Berners-Lee,
the creator of html and the web itself. Unlike commercial
catalogs, it is run by a loose confederation of volunteers, who
compile pages of key links for particular areas in which they
are expert. Even though it isn't the biggest index of the web,
the VL pages are widely recognized as being amongst the
highest-quality guides to particular sections of the web. The VL
pages represent how the web was in its earliest days and how a
non-commercial Internet operates. The site's world vision is in
its vision of the Internet as a channel of information and
communication a priori to commercial gain and vendor elbowing
for position. Luckily, the attitudes that germinated and
made available the Internet are still alive and well, and still
working hard to keep the fences off the prairie and the media
moguls at bay. |
Take a look at these sites by clicking on the bulleted
link! Individually, each site enriches us with its strong world
vision. Collectively, they are the 2001 "World's Top 10 Wonders of
the WWW"!
